CarbonVega can now supply custom carbon fiber drone and UAV components with pre-installed M2, M3 and M4 threaded inserts.
Customers have requested this option for some time. After testing different insert types and installation methods, we have selected solutions suitable for our prepreg carbon fiber laminates.
Threaded inserts simplify drone assembly by providing a secure and reusable fastening point directly in the carbon fiber component. They can reduce the need for loose nuts, separate brackets and additional assembly operations.
Typical applications include:
- FPV drone frame plates;
- electronics and flight-controller mounts;
- battery trays;
- camera and payload mounts;
- covers and removable panels;
- other lightweight UAV components.
Designed specifically for carbon fiber
Standard press nuts intended for sheet metal are not always suitable for CFRP. Carbon fiber does not deform like metal, and excessive installation force or an unsuitable insert can damage the laminate.
Where necessary, we can recommend small design changes to improve the reliability of the connection.
European components and in-house manufacturing
The threaded inserts are sourced from European manufacturers, supporting CarbonVega’s aim to offer a transparent and increasingly Asia-free supply chain.
CarbonVega manufactures the prepreg carbon fiber sheets, CNC-machines the components and installs the threaded inserts in-house in Estonia. This allows us to control the complete production process and supply parts that are ready for final assembly.
The service is available for prototypes, development batches and repeat production orders ranging from tens to several hundred parts.
