One of the most common questions we receive in Carbonvega is:
Do you manufacture your carbon fiber sheets, or do you source them from overseas?
The answer is simple.
we manufacture all our carbon fiber sheets in-house. In Europe, Estonia.
In-house Carbon Fiber production, not imported plates
At CarbonVega, we do not purchase ready-made carbon fiber sheets from Asia or other suppliers. Instead, we produce our own sheets using prepreg carbon fiber materials sourced from Europe.
This allows us to control:
- material quality
- fiber orientation and consistency
- thickness accuracy
- overall mechanical performance
We have been manufacturing carbon fiber sheets for over 12 years, continuously refining our process and quality standards.
Carbon Fiber Manufacturing process
Our sheets are produced using hot compression moulding, a process widely used in high-performance composite manufacturing.
This ensures:
- low void content
- consistent surface quality on both sides
- reliable mechanical properties
Material properties for Sheets
Our standard carbon fiber sheets have the following characteristics:
Thickness range:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 mm
Thickness tolerance:
ยฑ0.2 mm
Specific weight ~1,56g/cm3
Epoxy resin:
- Glass transition temperature (Tg): 140 ยฐC
- UV stable
- Saltwater resistant
Carbon fibers:
- Tensile strength: 5500 MPa
- Tensile Modulus 250Gpa
- Elongation: 2.3%
- Fiber content: ~65%
Our used fibers have similar/slightly better mechanical properties than widely used Toray T700
Carbon fiber sheet (balanced layup):
- Tensile strength: 518 MPa
- Testing performed at Tallinn University of Applied Sciences
These tests reflect the properties of the final composite laminate, taking into account fiber orientation, resin system, and manufacturing process
Custom materials and composite solutions
In addition to our standard in-stock carbon fiber sheets, CarbonVega also offers a wide range of custom composite solutions on request.
We have the capability to manufacture different types of laminates depending on the application requirements, including:
- Sandwich panels with PMI foam cores
- Nomex honeycomb sandwich structures
- Custom thickness and layup configurations
- Tailored fiber orientations for specific load cases
Beyond carbon fiber, we also work with a variety of reinforcement materials, such as:
- Aramid fibers (Kevlar) for impact resistance
- Glass fiber composites for cost-effective solutions
- Natural fiber composites for lightweight and sustainable applications
We can also produce laminates using different fabric architectures, including woven fabrics and unidirectional (UD) layers, depending on the required mechanical performance.
Thanks to our in-house production and experience in composite manufacturing, we can adapt materials and structures to meet the needs of demanding engineering projects.
This flexibility is especially valuable for applications in UAVs, robotics, motorsport and lightweight structural design, where standard materials may not always provide the optimal performance.
If your project requires a non-standard composite solution, feel free to contact us โ we are often able to develop and manufacture custom carbon fiber sheets or sandwich structures tailored to your design.
Why manufacturing Carbon Sheets inhouse matters
Many suppliers in the market focus only on cutting carbon fiber sheets, often sourcing them from unknown origins.
By manufacturing our sheets in-house, CarbonVega ensures:
- full control over material quality
- traceability of raw materials
- consistent results across batches
- independence from overseas supply chains
This is especially important for engineering applications in UAVs, robotics, motorsport and other demanding environments, where material reliability is critical.
If you are looking for a European manufacturer that produces both carbon fiber sheets and finished CNC-cut parts, CarbonVega offers a fully integrated solution.
